  1. Soundscape S-2000 Release Notes version 1.20

  6. This document describes changes made to the Soundscape software v 1.20
  7.  
  8. **Installation**
  9. 1) Installation program will now check for a previous CD-ROM install.
  10. If it detects Soundscape CD-ROM drivers in your CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT 
  11. it will not overwrite them.
  12.  
  13. **SSInit**
  14. SSInit now downloads both the General MIDI firmware and the FM firmware.  
  15. Previous versions of Soundscape software requrired the Soundscape card
  16. to be redownloaded when switching between GM and FM mode.  This is no longer 
  17. necessary.
  18.  
  19. The SSInit command-line interface has changed.  To initialize the Soundscape
  20. card type SSINIT /I.  This is done at boot-up time.
  21.  
  22. The Hardware Test page has changed.  To Test your current hardware
  23. settings select Hardware Tests, then select either IRQ or DMA Test.  These
  24. tests will show conflicts with the current hardware settings.  If there is a
  25. conflict, it can be resolved by making changes on the Hardware Settings page
  26. in SSInit.

  28. The Synth Settings screen has been removed.
  29.  
  30. A MIDI Settings screen has been added to SSInit.  Under DOS MIDI data can go 
  31. to either the internal synth or the external MIDI port. The MIDI settings 
  32. screen allows you to route your MIDI data to either the Internal Synth or
  33. External MIDI port.  The default for the MIDI routing is the Internal 
  34. Synthesizer.

  36. **MT32**
  37. A new utiltiy has been added to allow switching between the General MIDI patch
  38. set and the MT32 patch set.  To switch between the patches you need to run 
  39. the MT32 command.  The arguments for MT32 are as follows:

  41. MT32 [ ON | OFF ] [ /? ]
  42. Where ON switches to the MT32 patch set, OFF switches to the General MIDI set.
  43. MT32 without any arguments returns the current patch set.

  46. **Windows**
  47. SSINITGM.DLL has changed to handle the new firmware.
